Updated Air Navigation (Protected Areas) Orders

1.           The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) have gazetted 82 new locations (covering military and non-military areas) as Protected Area under the Air Navigation Act (“ANA”), to address security concerns over unmanned aircraft (“UA”)/drone overflying the Protected Areas.

2.           All UA Operators are reminded that permits are required from a competent security officer (SPF/MINDEF) when operating a UA within a Protected Area. The list of Protected Areas and Protected Places along with the relevant points of contact can be found at SPF’s webpage (https://www.police.gov.sg/Advisories/Infrastructure-Protection/Protected-Areas-and-Protected-Places). It should also be noted that a UA Operator would also need to seek permission from the relevant competent security officer (SPF/MINDEF) should there be a need to capture photography/videography of Protected Areas or Protected Places.

3            Kindly refer to the OneMap for a graphical representation of all Protected Areas and other no-fly zones in Singapore.
